British Authorities Announce Charges Against Tate Brothers for Alleged Crimes
British prosecutors have confirmed that they have authorized 21 charges against the Tate brothers, known for their misogynistic online influence. The charges include rape, human trafficking, and bodily harm against three women, a spokesperson for the prosecution said.
The charges against Andrew Tate (38) and Tristan Tate (36) were authorized before an extradition order was issued for their return from Romania in 2024. The brothers, who were born in the USA, have consistently denied all allegations.
Police in the English county of Bedfordshire have issued an international arrest warrant for the siblings. The allegations date back to the years 2012 to 2015. In addition to the charges in the UK, the Tate brothers are also being prosecuted in Romania for the alleged human trafficking of minors, having sex with minors, and money laundering.
Andrew Tate, a former kickboxer, reached millions of young people and men with his misogynistic statements on social networks. His brother Tristan supported him in this. The brothers are considered heroes of the so-called Manosphere, an online community of misogynistic men who spread destructive male images and radicalize young people.
In Romania, more than 30 alleged victims have come forward, including a 15-year-old, according to the Romanian prosecution. The brothers are alleged to have forced women into the production of commercial sex videos. The investigation is ongoing, and both brothers deny all allegations against them.
Background:In April 2022, Romanian police raided a property owned by the Tate brothers in Pipera, Romania, after reports of an American citizen being held against her will. Two of the women found at the property claimed they were being held against their will, leading to an investigation into human trafficking and rape by DIICOT, Romania's anti-organized crime agency. The brothers were initially interrogated and released as witnesses rather than suspects.
In December 2022, the Tate brothers were arrested along with two women, and in June 2023, they were charged with rape, human trafficking, and forming an organized crime group to sexually exploit women. In July 2024, two of the accusers reportedly went into hiding after facing online harassment, and the brothers filed a defamation lawsuit in the United States, claiming $5 million in damages against one of the accusers.
As of March 2025, the brothers are facing six legal investigations—four criminal and two civil—in Romania, the UK, and Florida. They have also filed two lawsuits against their accusers in the United States. Andrew faces an additional civil case in the UK. The brothers deny all charges and allegations.
