AdaptationWeek for Combating Climate Change
Climate Adaptation Week Kicks Off in Aschaffenburg
Aschaffenburg, Germany - The Climate Adaptation Week (CAW) is set to begin on September 15th and will run through September 19th, with a series of events aimed at promoting climate awareness and adaptation in the city.
One of the highlights of the week is a climate tour through the city center of Aschaffenburg, which takes place on Wednesday, September 17th from 5 - 6:30 pm. The meeting point for this tour is the drinking fountain in front of the city library, Schlossplatz 2. Registration for the tour is required by September 17th and can be done at stadtab_klima.ticketmachine.de/de.
On the same day, from 7 - 8:30 PM, a free guided Tree Walk in Damm will take place. The meeting point for this event is Seestraße 2, 63741 Aschaffenburg, and registration is not required. The Tree Walk is a unique opportunity to learn about the Wander Trees, six mobile seating modules with a tree in the middle and mobile plant boxes, which change their location every six weeks.
The Wander Trees project is organised by the city of Aschaffenburg's neighborhood management, and the project participants are volunteer citizens who engage in the neighbourhood council as the Climate Adaptation Working Group (CAW). The city of Aschaffenburg is participating as a partner of the CAW, which is organised by the Climate Adaptation Center and the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety, and Consumer Protection (BMUV).
Antonia Pfeiffer, the climate adaptation manager of the city of Aschaffenburg, is associated with the Bundesverband GebäudeGrün e.V. (BuGG). She is also the organiser of the climate tour in Aschaffenburg.
In addition to the climate tour and the Tree Walk in Damm, the CAW also includes a digital lecture titled "Putting Climate and Health in the Spotlight!" on Tuesday, September 16th from 5 - 6 pm. The speaker for this lecture is Daniel Nuding from Team Gesundheit GmbH. Registration for the digital lecture is required by September 16th and can be done at stadtab_klima.ticketmachine.de/de.
On Sunday, September 28, there will be an open day of the Garden and Cemetery Office in Aschaffenburg. The flood information mobile of the Hochwasser Kompetenz Centrum will be on site at this event.
