Art Dementia Community 2025: New Exhibition Explores Dementia Through Creativity

A new exhibition, 'Art Dementia Community 2025', is set to open in Aschaffenburg on September 17th. This unique project, developed by German artist and educator Sarah Brendecke, aims to improve the well-being of people with dementia through creative engagement. The exhibition, running until October 16th at the Martinushaus, showcases artwork created by people with dementia during a summer art project. It also provides information about dementia and the challenges faced by caregivers. The project, initiated by Brendecke in 2024, is a result of her study project in Alzenau and is now offered in Aschaffenburg. The exhibition is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 12 PM and Monday to Thursday from 1 PM to 4 PM, with free admission. It is a collaboration between the Faculty of Design at the University of Würzburg-Schweinfurt, the Martinus Forum, and the Education Office of the City of Aschaffenburg. Guided tours are available on September 25th and October 2nd and 7th. The opening reception for 'Art Dementia Community 2025' is on Wednesday, September 17th at 5 PM, followed by a sneak peek into a documentary film about the project at 6 PM. The exhibition and the film aim to raise awareness about dementia and support caregivers, exploring whether creative engagement can significantly improve the well-being of people with dementia.
