Bremerhaven's Fire Brigade Expands 'Mobile Rescuers' to Include School AEDs
Bremerhaven's Fire Brigade has expanded its 'Mobile Rescuers' system to include Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), starting with schools. The goal is to save valuable minutes in emergencies by increasing the coverage of AED locations. The system, launched on June 24, 2022, in Bremerhaven, Cuxhaven, and Osterholz, alerts medically qualified first aiders via GPS on their smartphones.
The Fire Brigade Bremerhaven is now integrating school AEDs into the 'Mobile Rescuers' system for a test phase, in collaboration with local medical rescue services and technology partners. If an AED is nearby, a third Mobile Rescuer is alerted to fetch the device and rush to the emergency location. In case of cardiac arrest, Mobile Rescuers are alerted parallel to emergency services via the Mobile Rescuers app. The system aims to borrow school AEDs in emergencies, with more locations to be added gradually.
Inquiries about the 'Mobile Rescuers' system and emergency-related press work should be directed to the Fire Brigade Bremerhaven's duty officer.
The expansion of the 'Mobile Rescuers' system to include AEDs is expected to significantly improve emergency response times in Bremerhaven. The integration of school AEDs and the alerting of additional Mobile Rescuers to fetch nearby AEDs are key features of this expansion. The Fire Brigade Bremerhaven encourages more institutions to join the test phase to further enhance the system's effectiveness.
