Resilience Training for Children Aged 8-11 Announced at UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Rhön

Starting on August 13, 2025, the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Rhön will offer a unique resilience training program for children aged 8 to 11. The sessions will take place outdoors in nature at Fohlenweide in Hofbieber.

The training aims to build self-confidence, develop emotional strength, and discover new perspectives in handling challenges. It is specifically designed for children in challenging life situations, such as family circumstances, separation experiences, school stress, or other invisible burdens.

The program will be led by two experienced instructors, including Vera Erb, who emphasizes that nature helps children find calm, experience community, and rediscover their own selves. Participants can expect trust-building rituals, cooperative games, mindfulness exercises, and movement activities.

The goal of the training is to help children grow through challenges with guided support. It is not a therapeutic program but a pedagogically guided experiential field that shows children new paths - gently, strengthening, and solidarity-based.

Each session will last for 90 minutes, and the training will continue for ten weeks every Wednesday from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM. More information about the training can be found on the website of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Rhön (www.biosphaerenreservat-rhoen.de).

Registration can be done through the Hessian Administrative Office of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Rhön or directly with Instructor Vera Erb. Her contact information includes her phone number (0177 5096608) and email address ([email protected]).

While UNESCO Biosphere Reserves are involved in sustainable development and community activities related to nature, youth engagement, and environmental education, no direct mention was found about resilience training specifically for children aged 8-11 at the Rhön Biosphere Reserve. If you need such a specific program, you may consider contacting the management of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Rhön directly or visiting their official website or local nature education centers. They often coordinate children’s nature programs, workshops, and resilience-building activities but may not always publicly list these via standard search channels.

  1. In addition to nature-based activities and environmental education, the upcoming resilience training program at the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Rhön, starting on August 13, 2025, will also focus on health and wellness, incorporating mindfulness exercises and fitness-and-exercise sessions to bolster children's mental-health and overall well-being.
  2. This unique resilience training program, designed for children aged 8 to 11 from challenging life situations, will go beyond just fostering resilience; it will also provide the kids with a wealth of science-backed knowledge about nature, contributing to their holistic development, with sessions taking place at Fohlenweide in Hofbieber.
