China promises ongoing medical aid to Bangladesh

China is extending ongoing emergency medical aid to Bangladesh in response to the recent military aircraft crash in Dhaka. This aid includes over 2,000 essential medicines and surgical instruments, delivered by the Foreign Affairs Office of Yunnan Province and Wuhan Third Hospital of China.

The supplies were officially handed over in a ceremony attended by Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen and senior Bangladesh health officials, including Md Saidur Rahman, secretary of the Bangladesh Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Prof Dr Md Abu Jafor, director general of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), and Mohammad Nashir Uddin, director of the National Institute of Burns and Plastic Surgery.

The handover ceremony emphasized that this medical support is part of China’s emergency assistance to help treat victims injured in the aircraft crash. China has also sent a specialized medical team consisting of burn specialists from Wuhan Third Hospital and a team from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University to Bangladesh. This team provides direct medical care and consults with Bangladeshi counterparts, especially at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka, where many injured patients are treated.

Chinese officials have assured that emergency medical support will continue as needed, reflecting strong bilateral cooperation and humanitarian assistance. The aid demonstrates China’s commitment to standing with Bangladesh in this emergency. Furthermore, China has committed to continuing to provide assistance within its capacity based on the needs of Bangladesh.

In this ongoing humanitarian effort, the Chinese medical team, comprising specialists from Wuhan Third Hospital and Kunming Medical University, are providing direct care and consultations to Bangladeshi counterparts, especially at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka, which is focusing on treating victims of the aircraft crash. China's health and wellness support extends beyond emergency assistance, as demonstrated by their commitment to continue providing aid within their capacity based on Bangladesh's needs, reflecting their dedication to science and medical-conditions-related assistance.
