City Hosts Dementia Awareness Events: Workshops, Exhibitions & More

The city is hosting a series of events this month to raise awareness and provide support for those affected by dementia. From workshops to lectures and exhibitions, there's something for everyone.

Kicking off the month, ILWIA held an action day 'Living in old age' at Fischmarkt on September 12, featuring a dementia simulator, quiz, and information. Looking ahead, Parkinson Schweiz will host a seminar titled 'Being there – not to exhaustion' on October 15, 2025, in Burgdorf, aimed at relatives of Parkinson's patients.

The 'Wochen der Demenz' from September 12 to 28, 2025, offers a range of activities for exchange, information, and shared experiences. Highlights include a dementia-sensitive zoo visit at Tierpark Greifswald on September 16, a conversation offer for relatives at the Meeting point church, and an exhibition 'Who rests, gets rusty' on literature, games, and activity ideas at the city library from September 19 to October 3.

Educational workshops are also available, such as the 'Knietzsche and dementia' session for school classes at the city library on September 25. Additionally, there are lectures and discussions like 'Perspective change - experiencing dementia' at the town hall on September 23 and 'Dealing & communication with people with dementia' at the neighborhood help association WGG on September 25.

The city's comprehensive program for September caters to various needs and interests, offering support, education, and engagement opportunities for those dealing with dementia and their loved ones.
