Configuring User Access within LabVantage LIMS for a Biotech Organization
In a collaborative effort, a leading biotech company partnered with Clarkston Consulting to bolster the security of their LabVantage LIMS system. The project, focused on implementing role-based access controls, was successfully completed, ensuring a smooth handoff.
The project's objective was to implement more specific Job Types with predefined system access. Clarkston configured new Job Types and Roles, such as Viewer and Instrument Team, and refined existing roles like Analyst, Lab Manager, and Administrator. This approach resulted in more specific system access and better access restriction to LIMS functionalities.
The migration of the new role configurations from the development (DEV) environment to quality assurance (QA) was carried out, followed by necessary updates to ensure accuracy in the QA environment. A detailed demo was conducted for LIMS users to familiarize them with the new configurations, and the client’s team was given the opportunity to test the configurations themselves.
The project culminated in the delivery of a comprehensive reference document to the client. This document, designed to assist with future access modifications as the user base grows, ensures smooth handoff and ongoing scalability.
The enhanced LabVantage LIMS system provides robust security controls, improving both usability and compliance with user roles. This collaboration between the biotech company and Clarkston Consulting has provided a strong foundation for managing a growing user base effectively.
