Diocese of Fulda Welcomes New Pastoral Workers Otto and Matiichyk
The Diocese of Fulda has welcomed two new pastoral workers, Elena Otto and Yurii Matiichyk, into its service this weekend. Both bring unique backgrounds and commitments to their roles.
Elena Otto, baptized in Niederrodenbach and raised in the parish of St. Peter and Paul, Rodenbach, has studied theology in Würzburg and completed an internship in the parish of St. Martin in Fulda. She will now focus on children and youth pastoral care in the region of Fulda, aiming to create spaces for young people to explore their faith.
Yurii Matiichyk, born in Ukraine and trained in the parish of St. Michael Eckweisbach, finds the hospital chaplaincy a special place of closeness to people and God. He will now work in this capacity at the Fulda Clinic. The solemn sending-off of both Otto and Matiichyk was co-designed by their mentors, training leaders, and diocesan representatives, with musical accompaniment provided by cathedral organist Max Deisenroth and the Somborn choir.
The Diocese of Fulda looks forward to the contributions of Elena Otto and Yurii Matiichyk in their respective roles. Their unique experiences and dedication promise to enrich the pastoral service in the region.
