Elderly disregard lamented by Helge Schneider
Helge Schneider Criticizes Digital Challenges and Society Divide in Germany
In a candid interview published in the latest issue of German "Playboy", Helge Schneider, the renowned German entertainer, expressed his concerns about the division in German society and the increasing digital challenges that many older individuals face.
Schneider, who turns 70 on August 30, lamented the division that has emerged between vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals, and criticized the role of politics in exacerbating this divide. He also expressed concern about social cohesion, particularly the lack of respect for the elderly, which he believes has been exacerbated by the Coronavirus pandemic.
One of the digital challenges Schneider highlighted is the need for older people to use apps and digital devices to perform simple tasks, such as booking train tickets. He stated that an 80-year-old would not know how to navigate the media library or operate a digital device, and expressed concern that this could leave them stranded and facing inflated prices.
Schneider also criticized the digitization of television, stating that it is no longer barrier-free for elderly people. He expressed frustration at the fact that whenever he looks at his phone, he only sees AI.
Despite his criticisms, Schneider remains optimistic and is trying to bring both sides together. He owns a house in Spain, where he finds a more welcoming social atmosphere, particularly in the small bars, which he feels are lacking in small towns in Germany.
In other news, Schneider has created a birthday portrait for ARD, which will be shown on August 20 at 10:50 PM on the first channel, and in selected cinemas from October 7. The portrait will provide a glimpse into Schneider's life and career, and is sure to be a must-watch for his fans.
