Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from her first-round match at the US Open due to health concerns. The young British player, currently ranked 15th, called for medical assistance during her anime against Ann Li, raising alarm bells in the extreme conditions of the tournament.

Raducanu, who was trailing 6-1, 4-1 at the time, appeared disoriented on court. The tournament was played in sweltering conditions, with temperatures soaring to 35°C and humidity at 60%. Despite the extreme weather, Raducanu had her temperature and blood pressure checked by the WTA physio and tournament doctor before retiring.
