Hey there! Need to know the deets on improving public spots in Komi, Russia? Here's the lowdown!
Margarita Kolpashchikova, a significant figure in Komi's public domain and head of the Komi Republican Organization of the VOI, encourages residents to pick their favorite public areas and courtyards by June 12. This action will help secure funding for their upgrades in 2026 from Moscow.
The voting deadline for selecting courtyards and public spaces to be transformed in 2026 is approaching, ending at the end of the day on June 12. Residents of Komi can still contribute their preferences for improvement projects using available budget funds by heading to the website.
According to Ms. Kolpashchikova, the revitalization of populated areas in Komi is made possible thanks to projects under the "Formation of a Comfortable Urban Environment" program. She points out that residents will see improvements such as new benches, lighting, play equipment, enhanced accessibility, and paving.
She urges everyone to take a few minutes to go online and vote for their preferred projects by June 12. The amount of funding Komi receives from the federal budget in 2026 will be contingent upon the number of votes the region accumulates. So, let's beautify our beloved Republic of Komi together!
Since 2025, the "Creating Comfortable Urban Environments" program has been a part of the national project "Infrastructure for Life". Between 2019 and 2024, a total of 854 spaces (488 public territories and 366 courtyards) were enhanced in 46 urban and rural settlements in the Republic of Komi. This year, the program will focus on the objects that received the most votes in the 2024 rating vote. In 2025, it's planned to refurbish 84 objects (40 public spaces and 44 courtyards). A variety of projects are up for voting across several municipalities:
- Inta: 2 projects (area near "Detskiy Mir" and territory near Lenin Square);
- Usinsk: 2 projects (children's playgrounds on 60 Let Oktyabrya Street and Lenin Street);
- Emva: 2 variants of arranging the Family Rest Park;
- Sosnogorsk: 3 projects of pedestrian zones;
- Syktyvkar: 18 projects of improvement in various areas of the city;
- Zheshart: 2 projects of arranging sidewalks;
- Uhta: 2 projects of public territories;
- Pechora: 2 projects of arranging sidewalks;

Stay tuned for updates this summer as work begins on these projects! As always, if you need confirmation on specific deadline dates or details, it's best to check official government announcements or resources for Komi or the program themselves. Stay involved in making your community a better place!
One could express their vote for health-and-wellness centers and fitness-and-exercise facilities in these revitalization projects, emphasizing the importance of promoting physical health and wellness in public areas. For instance, a person might vote for installing workout equipment and jogging tracks in parks or creating yoga and meditation zones in courtyards, contributing to the overall goal of enhancing Komi's urban environment.
In addition, the incorporation of science and technology could further elevate health-and-wellness in these projects. For example, the installation of smart fitness equipment with health monitoring capabilities or the addition of interactive educational signs about fitness and wellness would help promote a holistic and innovative approach in empowering residents to live healthier lives.
