Escalating cases of grave viral diseases in Yakutia: Coronavirus continues to prevail as the leading virus

The Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) has seen a significant surge in acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI) last week, with a 43.6% increase recorded compared to the previous week.

The Ministry of Health of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) is closely monitoring the situation, keeping a watchful eye on outbreaks of acute atypical respiratory diseases and COVID-19 in the region.

According to the latest data, coronaviruses causing COVID-19 are dominating the viruses detected in the region. No new viruses have been detected, and there is no dominance of any virus other than those causing COVID-19. As of the end of week 36 in 2025, a total of 3,732 cases of ARVI were registered in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).

The Consumer Protection Agency is also keeping a close eye on the situation, ensuring the safety and well-being of the residents.

Laboratory studies have shown that viruses of non-flu-like etiology, such as rhinoviruses, parainfluenza viruses, RC viruses, adenoviruses, bocaviruses, and metapneumoviruses, are circulating in Yakutia.

In light of these developments, the authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and seek medical help promptly if symptoms of the disease appear. Preventive measures suggested include regular hand washing, wearing masks in public places, and vaccination.

At this time, no new platforms for news updates have been provided. The data indicates a need for increased control and prevention of both ARVI and COVID-19 in the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
