American acting legend Dick Van Dyke shares the difficulties he encounters as he nears his 100th birthday. Known for his portrayal of Bert in Disney's "Mary Poppins" (1964), Van Dyke is currently preparing to turn 100 in December.

During a recent event, "Dick & Arlene Van Dyke Present Vandy Camp" in California, Van Dyke expressed his feelings of loss, as he and his long-time friend Ed Asner had been collaborating on a remake of the 1968 comedy "The Odd Couple." Sadly, Asner passed away in August 2021 at the age of 91.

Van Dyke's wife, Arlene, shares his sentiments, referring to the longevity that leads to such losses as a "curse." Despite the overwhelming grief, Van Dyke continues to remain optimistic. Speaking in Malibu, he attributed his positive attitude to a generally good life and expressed gratitude, saying "I can’t complain."

As age takes its toll, Van Dyke has scaled back on public appearances. Exhaustive traveling and interactions with large crowds have become more challenging as he approaches 99. However, his passion for performing and connecting with audiences remains undeterred. He is actively working on an autobiography offering life advice and reflections, framing it as "an optimist’s guide to a happy life."

In facing the emotional hardship of outliving many friends and the physical limitations of aging, Dick Van Dyke maintains a remarkably positive outlook, fueled by regular exercise and a grateful perspective on his life's journey.
