Expansion of Primary Care: Eleven New Centres to Commence Operations

In a significant move to strengthen healthcare provision, especially in rural regions, the Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, and Integration has announced a funding initiative for various projects across Baden-Württemberg. On September 1, 2022, Health Minister Manne Lucha made this announcement in Stuttgart.

The funding, totalling 10 million euros this year, will support a total of ten projects. Among the recipients are Bad Liebenzell, Wilhelmsdorf, Konstanz, Friedrichshafen, Aulendorf, Calw, Jestetten, Bad Waldsee, Schömberg, and Wildberg.

Bad Liebenzell established a Primary Care Center with a grant of 155,000 euros. The town of Wilhelmsdorf received the project "Wilhelmsdorf Primary Care Center" in the current funding round, securing 149,688 euros. Wildberg's Primary Care Center will receive 200,000 euros, while Bubsheim's project "Strengthening local healthcare" gets 155,000 euros.

The amounts provided for these projects range from 150,000 to 260,000 euros. For instance, Friedrichshafen's project "Integration and Transformation of the Tettnang Clinic" received 260,906 euros, and Schömberg's project "Connection of Primary Care Centers to Psychotherapeutic Care" was awarded 192,272 euros.

The collaboration of different medical disciplines is particularly important for elderly people with chronic illnesses. Primary care centers, where healthcare professionals from various disciplines work together under one roof, aim to provide comprehensive and quick care. Aulendorf Primary Care Network, for example, received 165,196 euros in funding.

Konstanz's project "Cross-Sectoral Care, Consultation, and Accompaniment of Families" received 48,699 euros. Jestetten's project "Case Managers* with Digital Competence" also received funding, totalling 155,000 euros. The Ravensburg District received 198,000 euros for "Digital Primary Care Network - Bad Waldsee".

These primary care centers are expected to play a more significant role in healthcare provision in Baden-Württemberg. By relieving hospitals and securing healthcare, these centers will contribute to a more efficient and effective healthcare system. The first round of funding with ten projects took place in July, marking the beginning of this transformative initiative.
