Farm laborer allegedly sexually assaulted his wife, daughter, and cows; compelled partner to witness his lewd acts with baby cattle.

A dairy farmer from New Zealand's Far North region is currently standing trial for a series of shocking allegations, including sexual assault against his wife and stepdaughter, as well as bestiality. The trial, which began in Whangārei District Court on an undisclosed date, was scheduled to last three weeks but was halted on August 13, 2025, due to legal discussions[1][2][4].

The accused faces a total of 38 charges, including 15 of rape, related to the sexual abuse of his family members and bestiality[4]. The allegations span approximately 20 years and involve both his wife and underage stepdaughter[2][4].

According to Crown prosecutor Geraldine Kelly, the man allegedly made his cows and calves perform sexual acts with him during calving season, and made his wife have sex with him after the act with the calves on at least 20 occasions[4]. The number of alleged rapes by the man has increased to 300[5].

The wife revealed in court that the stepdaughter stayed silent out of her love for her stepfather[6]. The stepdaughter is said to have been raped nearly 90 times over a decade[3].

The man's lawyer, Matthew Ridgley, claims that any sex with the stepdaughter was consensual and that she was over the age of 16[3]. However, the man allegedly believes that rape does not exist and claims that all women eventually give in and enjoy sex[4].

The man's identity is withheld to protect the victims[4]. As of the latest reports from mid-August 2025, no further updates on the trial progression or outcomes were available[1]. The case remains under judicial process pending resolution of the legal issues that caused the halt[1].
