Fire in Jena Apartment: Resident Hospitalized After Falling Asleep Near Stove
Firefighters and police responded to a smoke alarm at an apartment on Musäusring in Jena around 02:00 on Thursday morning. The cause was a fire started by a 22-year-old resident who had fallen asleep on the couch with the stove on. Upon arrival, emergency services found no visible smoke from outside the apartment. However, inside, the apartment was heavily smoked due to burnt food. The resident was taken to the hospital with minor injuries from inhaling smoke for further medical treatment. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and thoroughly ventilated the apartment. After the incident, the apartment became habitable again. The fire was caused by the resident falling asleep on the couch after turning on the stove. The apartment was made safe and habitable again following the incident.
