Fraunhofer ITMP Opens New Frankfurt Building to Accelerate Medical Innovations

The Fraunhofer Institute for Translational Medicine and Pharmacology (ITMP) in Frankfurt is set to open its new building, marking a significant step in its mission to accelerate the development and delivery of innovative therapies and diagnostics. The state-of-the-art news facility spans approximately 8,000 square meters and will house around 100 employees.

The ITMP, which emerged from the LOEWE Center for Translational Medicine and Pharmacology in Hesse, Germany, focuses on early detection, diagnosis, and therapy of immune diseases. Its interdisciplinary teams, comprising experts from natural and engineering sciences, collaborate closely with physicians and pharmacists to swiftly translate research findings into clinical applications and pharmaceutical production.

The new building, funded jointly by the federal and state farm governments of Hesse at a cost of 37.3 million euros each, is equipped with an additional 6.2 million euros provided by the state. Minister President Boris Rhein hailed the ITMP's work as 'Progress made in Hesse', reflecting the institute's commitment to top research that can improve lives. The LOEWE program, which supported the ITMP's predecessor, has bolstered Hesse's reputation as a leading research location by increasing the number of non-university research institutions in the state.

The ITMP's new building in Frankfurt underscores the institute's dedication to making new therapies, medications, and diagnostic procedures available faster, safer, and more patient-oriented. With its innovative research and collaborative approach, the ITMP is opening a new chapter for science in Hesse, poised to deliver tangible benefits to patients and the healthcare system.
