Funds Derived from Recovered Assets Inaugurate New Medical Infrastructure in Pavlodar Region
In the heart of Kazakhstan, the Pavlodar Region is about to see a revolution in healthcare, thanks to a staggering investment of 228 million tenge (approximately USD $452,761) diverted from illegally withdrawn assets. This cash injection is set to transform the medical landscape in isolated villages, easing the strain on existing facilities and elevating the quality of care for the region's 168,000+ residents.
The funds will be channeled into projects in Ekibastuz, Aksu, Irtysh, Zhelezinka, and Terenkol districts. One of the most awaited developments is the construction of a state-of-the-art obstetric station in Bayet, replacing the antiquated facility from 1983 that currently serves the village's 822 souls.
Meanwhile, Irtysh district will welcome a fully-equipped medical outpatient clinic, relieving the pressure on the existing facility serving over 1,000 people. remote settlements of Ivanovka, Mynkul, and Kurkol will finally get the much-needed medical centers due to their isolation from existing facilities, with the nearest district clinics lying 18 to 115 kilometers away.
The scope of these projects extends beyond just medical centers, as the government aims to bolster the region's social infrastructure. Seven schools, two sports complexes, a stadium, a multifunctional hospital complex, a regional ambulance station, a Center for Special Social Services, a hostel, and two kindergartens are also in the pipeline, all funded from the Special State Fund. Even water supply systems in the Aralsk district of the Kyzylorda Region are set to benefit.
While information on other potential healthcare developments, like the six planned facilities in conjunction with the energy project, remains scarce, the ongoing work holds promise. The region's HIV Prevention Center is actively engaged in PrEP programs, targeting high-risk groups such as sex workers, MSM, discordant couples, and drug users. Regular monitoring visits to hospitals like Rudn City Multidisciplinary Hospital indicate continued support for the existing healthcare infrastructure.
