Gathering at Worms: Speed-Networking for Lone Parents

On September 16th, the Worms Working Group 'Days of Mental Health' is organizing a special Speed-Friending event for single parents at the Worms Zoo. This unique event aims to help single parents make new friends and build connections, all while promoting mental health awareness.

Pre-Event Preparation

The event is open to all interested single parents, and registration is required via a specific link. During registration, participants will be asked to provide some basic information, such as age range, interests, or what they hope to achieve from the event.

Event Structure

The event will begin with a brief introduction explaining the rules and objectives. Participants will be encouraged to feel comfortable and relaxed, with icebreaker games or activities to help them warm up and get familiar with each other.

Following the introduction, participants will take part in speed friending rounds. Each round will last approximately 5 minutes, during which participants will sit opposite each other in pairs and have the opportunity to introduce themselves, share interests, or discuss pre-set conversation prompts. After each round, participants will rotate to meet new people, ensuring everyone interacts with a diverse group.

After the speed friending rounds, there will be a social mixer, allowing participants to mingle freely, continue conversations started during the event, and enjoy refreshments. This part of the event fosters deeper connections among participants who have shown interest in each other.

At the end of the event, participants may be asked to provide feedback on their experience to help improve future sessions. There might also be opportunities for participants to connect post-event, such as through a private Facebook group or email list.

Safety and Comfort Measures

The organizers have implemented several measures to ensure everyone feels safe and comfortable. Participants will be identified by numbers rather than names to maintain privacy, and a strict no-photography policy will be enforced. Clear guidelines will be set to respect participants' boundaries and consent.

Additional Information

Childcare is available during the Speed-Friending event, and entrance to the zoo is free for participants during the event. The event is free to participate in and is supported by the Ministry of Science and Health of Rhineland-Palatinate and the "Health for All!" project of the State Center for Health Promotion.

The event will take place twice a day: at 9:45 AM and 1:45 PM. For more information and to register, visit the event's registration page.

This hypothetical structure combines elements of speed dating with the focus on friendship and networking, adapting them for single parents and mental health awareness. The goal of the Speed-Friending event is to make new friends, not to find a partner. If desired, phone numbers will also be passed on. Anonymous feedback will be given after the event for evaluation, and emails regarding the event results will be sent within a week.

The Worms Working Group organizing the event includes the House of Youth and Family Help of the DRK, the Psychosocial Center, the Children and Youth Welfare Center of the Caritas Association Worms e.V., the Social Psychiatric Service of the Health Department Worms Branch Office, and the Psychiatry Coordination of the Worms City Administration.

  1. The Speed-Friending event, organized by the Worms Working Group, not only takes place at the Worms Zoo but also aligns with the health-and-wellness sector, emphasizing mental-health awareness for single parents.
  2. As part of the pre-event preparation, interested single parents are required to provide their interests during registration, which will help facilitate meaningful conversations during the event's health-focused speed friending rounds.
