Gaza Foundation Disseminates Over Two Million Meals to Civilian Population
The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation, an entity yet to be recognized by international humanitarian organizations, claims to have provided over two million meals to Gazan civilians since its inception. With roughly 23,000 food packages distributed, three distribution centers have been established within the region.
Recent tensions between Israel and the Gaza Strip have resulted in Israel halting all aid deliveries in March and subsequent attacks. Although Israel has recently eased the blockade, the coastal strip remains in a critical condition. Scarce resources, including food, drinking water, medicine, and essential items, continue to plague the region.
The ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza is marked by severe access constraints for humanitarian agencies, hindering delivery of aid across the region. According to recent reports, only 40 out of 71 planned aid movements coordinated with Israeli authorities were allowed between May 21 and 27, 2025.
Alarmingly, almost half a million people are currently at risk of starvation, and the entire 2.1 million population faces prolonged food shortages. Malnutrition continues to take its toll on the region's youngest residents; data suggests that 57 children have died from malnutrition since March 2025, with nearly 71,000 children under five expected to be acutely malnourished in the coming year if conditions persist.
Health and protection services are also crucial to the region, with protection against sexual abuse and exploitation remaining a priority. Assistance is available through organizations like SAWA, offering confidential support, and the Humanitarian Service Directory providing up-to-date information on aid services and helplines.
All humanitarian efforts are bound by the mandate to distribute aid with dignity and respect, and accountability mechanisms are in place to address any reported abuses or breaches in support provision.
The international community, including the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), and the World Health Organization (WHO), are spearheading response efforts in Gaza. Their reports highlight ongoing food, health, and protection needs, as well as the challenges in aid delivery due to persistent access restrictions.
As of now, there is no evidence indicating that the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation is involved in official humanitarian aid efforts in Gaza. The main humanitarian actors and providers remain UN agencies and international NGOs, offering services that encompass food, medical aid, protection against exploitation, and abuse, amongst others.
Despite the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation's assertions, it remains unrecognized by international humanitarian organizations. Consequently, their employment policy within the community, science, health-and-wellness, lifestyle, food-and-drink sectors has not been endorsed or integrated into the collective aid efforts in Gaza. On the contrary, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA), the World Health Organization (WHO), and other international NGOs lead a range of initiatives that cater to food, medical aid, protection against exploitation, and abuse, among other essential services.
