Gießen City Buses to Promote Sexual Assault Support Project

Starting this September, Gießen city buses will carry a poster promoting the 'Medical Immediate Assistance After Sexual Assault' project. Funded by the Hessian Ministry of Labor, Integration, Youth & Social Affairs, this initiative aims to support victims of sexual violence and reduce their burden.

The project, led by the Women's and Equality Offices of Gießen, enables victims to receive medical care and evidence preservation anonymously. This allows them time to decide whether to file a report. Gießen is one of 14 model cities in Hesse participating in this project, alongside Frankfurt am Main and Marburg. The campaign also aims to raise awareness that sexual violence is never the victim's fault.

The project involves various medical, psychological, and social care services. Evidence collected will be stored for a year, only handed over to police if a report is filed. This approach respects victims' immediate needs and decisions.

The 'Medical Immediate Assistance After Sexual Assault' project, starting in Gießen this September, offers crucial support to victims of sexual violence. By providing immediate medical care and evidence preservation, along with the option to remain anonymous, the project reduces the burden on victims and promotes awareness about the issue.
