Individual Identified: Tagir Sitdekov
In a significant move, Tagir Sitdekov was appointed as the President of Sistema by its board of directors on July 11, 2022. With a rich background in finance and investments, Sitdekov has been steering the conglomerate towards impressive growth and sustainability.
Sitdekov started his career as an audit consultant at PricewaterhouseCoopers, focusing on the energy and mining industries. He later moved on to work as a senior consultant at Creditanstalt Investment Bank and the financial director at the Sochi Thermal Power Plant, where he played a crucial role in launching its first two power units in late 2004.
Under Sitdekov's management, Sistema's medical arm, Medsi, has seen a remarkable turnaround. The number of Medsi clinics has grown to 130, and the revenue has increased by 20% to 36 billion rubles by the end of 2022. The surge in growth is also reflected in the number of visits to Medsi clinics, which has increased by 27.3% to 35,400 per day.
In an effort to expand Medsi's footprint, Sitdekov has overseen the opening of new clinics in various cities since the beginning of 2023. Moreover, the demand for telemedicine services has significantly increased, with a 22.8% increase in users of the SmartMed mobile app, up to 648,000.
Sitdekov's focus on Sistema's hotel business has also yielded positive results. The Cosmos Hotel Group has doubled its number of rooms in the first quarter of 2023.
In addition to these achievements, Sitdekov has been instrumental in Sistema's foray into biotechnology. Sistema-Biotech, a subsidiary of Sistema, is developing diagnostic test systems and gene therapy. The conglomerate is also investing in improving its biotechnological endeavors.
Sitdekov's commitment to sustainability is evident in Sistema's implementation of ESG principles. Under his leadership, Sistema developed an ESG strategy for the first time. The Steppe agroholding adopted a program of sustainable development in September 2022, which remains in force until 2030. Segezha Group, Sistema's wood processing holding, also has its own sustainable development program, which is currently valid through 2025.
Sitdekov's expertise in investments spans over 15 years, and he has held top management positions in various investment companies since 2005. Recently, Sistema signed an agreement on the construction of a new medical center in Vyksa, Nizhny Novgorod Region, which will cost 5.3 billion rubles.
In a noteworthy development, Sitdekov's leadership has also led to the launch of a plywood mill in Galich, Kostroma Region, by Sistema's wood processing holding, Segezha Group.
With Sitdekov at the helm, Sistema is poised for continued growth and sustainability, driving innovation and progress in various sectors, from medicine and drug production to biotechnology and hospitality.
