Karnataka Medical Council Represents India at International Association of Medical Regulatory Authorities Conference in Dublin, 2025

The Karnataka Medical Council (KMC) represented India at the International Association of Medical Regulatory Authorities (IAMRA) Conference 2025, which took place in Dublin, Ireland.

Dr. Chytra V Anand, one of the Indian representatives at the conference, emphasised the global platform provided for learning and sharing best practices. The KMC, along with representatives from the National Medical Commission (NMC) and Gujarat Medical Council (GMC), attended the event.

The KMC took the opportunity to highlight its statutory position, transparent processes for addressing malpractice, collaborative work with allied and modern medicine, and the realities of rural healthcare in India. The conference focused on creating the future of medical regulation in light of technological, ethical, and healthcare changes.

Key commitments made by the KMC include improving transparency in complaint resolution, upgrading continuing professional development courses, and publishing revised regulatory guidance on digital health and AI-based medical practice. The conference also covered topics such as enhancing ongoing professional development, promoting telemedicine, incorporating artificial intelligence in healthcare, protecting ethical use of social media among medical practitioners, and enhancing physician wellbeing as a core of patient safety.

The IAMRA Conference 2025 was organised by the International Association of Medical Regulatory Authorities and attracted various regulatory bodies and medical councils from around the world, including the World Health Organization (WHO). Notable participants included the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) and the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI).

The event in Dublin reinforced India's dynamic role in driving the international discourse on medical regulation and opened the path for progressive changes in medical regulation throughout the nation. The KMC's participation at IAMRA 2025 is a significant step towards fostering global collaboration and advancing medical regulations in India.
