On a recent visit on April 18, 2025, Gleb Nikitin, the Governor of Nizhny Novgorod region, checked in on the central district hospital in Knyaginino. Accompanied by his regional counterpart, Andrey Checheerin, Deputy Governor of Nizhny Novgorod region, Galina Mikhaylova, the region's Minister of Health, and Evgeny Shamyn, Head of Knyaginino municipal district, they took a gander at the medical prevention cabinet and children's consultation unit.

According to Oksana Belova, the district's main doctor, the local residents are jumping on board with preventive events in droves. Since the year kicked off, nearly 1700 adults and approximately 400 children have gone through dispensarization and professional examinations.

The governor wandered around hospital inpatients facilities, peeking into the updated radiodiagnostic cabinet, boasting a sparkling new fluorograph, mammograph, and X-ray machine. Originating from the spring of 2023 as part of the national project "Healthy Longevity"'s primary healthcare modernization program, this equipment upgrade has proven to be a game-changer.

Gleb Nikitin also scrutinized the 18-bed therapeutic department—another inpatient facility that got the touch-up in 2022 under the same program. Here, he chatted with Alexander Rodionov, a paramedic who's previously served in various regions of Russia and received recognition for his stellar medical support of children. Currently, another veteran paramedic from Knyagininskaya CRB is lending a hand at the front, honored with the Medal "For Military Valor II Degree."

The governing brass expressed appreciation for the relentless dedication of Nizhny Novgorod medics who are doing diligent work in the special military operation zone. Their seasoned expertise will aid them in providing superior domestic healthcare services.

Two vehicles keep the emergency medical services department up and running. The chief physician confirmed that the current resources are fit to manage the ever-changing torrent of calls, even when they come pouring in. Another vehicle will be added soon to help keep up with demand.

In progress is the final stage of repair work at the Knyagininskaya CRH, according to Deputy Governor Andrei Chechelin. To bump up the comfort level for patients, improvements are needed to the surrounding territory. Nikitin instructed the Ministry of Health to weigh the pros and cons of paving the hospital area, installing appropriate street lighting, and adding fencing where needed.

The "Long and Active Life" national project has been in the works since 2025, following the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin's lead. This Phase 2 initiative is responsible for pushing ahead with objectives initially outlined in the "Healthcare" national project. The aim is to bump up life expectancy by 2030 through further modernization of facilities, training and recruiting more medical pros, evolving disease management tactics, enhancing emergency medical care systems, and developing a research-focused network of centers.

The project incorporates 11 federal projects: "Health for All," "Modernization of Primary Healthcare," "Medical Personnel," "Battle Against Cardiovascular Diseases," "Battle Against Oncological Diseases," "Battle Against Diabetes," "Battle Against Hepatitis and Disease Spread Risks," "Improve Emergency Medical Care," "Develop Federal Medical Institutions, including the Development of the Network of National Research Centers," "National Health Platform," and "Optimal Medical Rehabilitation for Health Restoration."
