Month-long initiative titled "Moving into old age" - the inaugural Marburg Action Month

The city of Marburg is gearing up for an exciting month of activities, as it hosts the Action Month "Move into Age" from September 1st to October 1st. The event, themed around "Movement knows no age", aims to promote health maintenance and combat loneliness.

The Action Month is a collaborative effort by the city of Marburg, Marburg clubs, and the Marburg Volunteer Agency (FAM). It kicks off with a joint 3,000-step walk with Mayor Dr. Thomas Spies on September 1st, setting the tone for a month filled with movement opportunities.

On September 4th, Professor Dr. Ralf Laging will give a lecture on "Movement knows no age - everyday life as an opportunity". This talk promises to be insightful and inspiring, encouraging everyone to embrace movement as a part of their daily lives.

The program for the Action Month is extensive, offering over 200 activities. These range from sports and movement sessions, lectures, and interactive activities, catering to people of all ages, fitness levels, and previous experience.

Activities include walking, self-defense, yoga, ball sports, gymnastics, Nordic walking, rowing, dragon boat paddling, hiking, and various forms of dancing. Participants can even participate in the "Schritte-Challenge" during the Action Month, with team participation possible via the "Teamfit" app.

The closing event of the Action Month is a dance festival of the generations on October 1st. This event, organised by the NRW Landesbüro Tanz, based in Cologne, features guided dances, information stands of the Marburg dance scene, and an open dance party with different music rhythms and styles.

Throughout the month, participants can collect points with an action card in interactive activities and go into a draw for a prize. For those interested in regular updates on town hall and city life news, signing up for the University City of Marburg newsletter is recommended.

The detailed program and comprehensive action calendar can be found at www.bewegt-ins-alter.de. It's important to note that the city of Marburg offers open movement opportunities in addition to the Action Month events. So, whether you're a seasoned athlete or just starting out, there's something for everyone in Marburg's Action Month "Move into Age".
