Mothers' tragic golf outing ends in terror as one loses her arm due to a falling tree

On August 6, 2025, a family celebration at Golf N’ Stuff mini golf course in Ventura, California, took an unexpected turn. During a birthday celebration for Adela Magana's 13-year-old son, a 40-foot palm tree suddenly fell, causing a traumatic incident.

Adela was seated on a bench watching her kids play mini-golf when the tree came crashing down. Witnesses described the incident as a "screeching sound" followed by a "big old thump". Her husband, Amando, their adult son, Junior, and two bystanders managed to lift the tree off her. Junior applied a makeshift tourniquet to stop the bleeding before paramedics arrived.

The fall of the palm tree resulted in severe injuries to Adela. Despite emergency surgery, her right arm had to be amputated just below the shoulder the next day. She now faces additional surgeries, extensive rehabilitation, and the lifelong challenge of adapting to a prosthetic.

The accident had a profound emotional impact on her family, especially Junior, who witnessed the incident. The community has rallied around the Magaña family, offering support and updates on their situation.

Questions have been raised about the safety of the property and whether proper maintenance could have prevented the accident. As of now, Golf N’ Stuff has not publicly commented on the cause of the tree's fall.
