In the early hours of Sunday morning, a dramatic rescue operation unfolded in the Schuttanen area of Hohenems, Vorarlberg, Austria.
Three men were together when the 31-year-old man suddenly disappeared from his companions, aged 23 and 25, around 3 a.m. The two remaining men alerted the rescue services after the man could not be found.
The mountain rescue team Dornbirn in Hohenems was called to the scene, which was located at the Schuttanen parking lot. About 30 minutes later, the team found the man in a stream bed in the middle of the forest.
The man was severely injured and the steep terrain made the rescue operation challenging. However, the mountain rescue team Hohenems successfully rescued the injured person.
Initial treatment was administered by a doctor at the scene, and the man was then transported to Dornbirn hospital by ambulance. Unfortunately, the rescue helicopter "Rega 7" was unable to proceed due to approaching fog.
The police suspect that the man fell due to his injuries in the steep terrain. The investigation is ongoing.
