"Park Sports Triumph in 2025: A Completely Satisfying Year"

In the heart of Aachen, a vibrant city steeped in history and culture, a unique event has been making waves – 'Sports in the Park'. Held in the city's picturesque green spaces, this community-focused initiative has been fostering social unity and creating memorable moments since its inception.

This year, 'Sports in the Park' expanded to a "full version" after a successful smaller event the previous year. The six-week extravaganza featured over 100 weekly events, ranging from dancing and Zumba to yoga, Pilates, back fitness, HIIT workouts, rugby, skating, capoeira, running, and even new additions like swing line dance, jump rope, and acroyoga.

Theresa Hirtz, the main organiser from the City Sports Association, expressed her delight at the diversity and range of sports on offer. Anna Maria Prümmer from the city's sports department shared her conviction that 'Sports in the Park' offers suitable activities for all age groups and is easily accessible and free of charge.

The events, which took place from Monday to Sunday, attracted around 15,000 residents. Inga Konen from Sparkasse Aachen's sales communication expressed her pleasure at the event's success, stating, "We are very pleased that 'Sports in the Park' could be brought to life again, in part thanks to the support of Sparkasse Aachen." STAWAG also supported the event in 2025.

Eva Wussing from STAWAG echoed the sentiment, stating that the project combines free, outdoor, and voluntary activities that contribute to a pleasant city to live in. Björn Jansen, President of the Aachen City Sports Association e.V., emphasised the project's impact on fostering social unity and promoting diverse sports offerings.

The weather during the event was sportingly fair, with virtually no cancellations of courses. The organisers drew a consistently positive balance after six weeks.

While the detailed history and future plans of 'Sports in the Park' are not extensively documented, the event's ongoing popularity and community engagement suggest a strong presence in Aachen’s sporting calendar.
