A recent discovery of bacterial contamination in mineral water products has prompted caution for consumers across Germany. The affected mineral water, sourced from the Clara spring in Jessen, is sold at Edeka and Netto stores.

The contamination was found during a routine check, but the exact type of germs involved has not been specified. Several varieties of mineral water from the "Naturalis" and "Gut&Günstig" brands are part of the recall.

For the Naturalis brand, 0.5-liter bottles with an MHD (Minimum Shelf Life Date) of 2nd July 2026 are affected. For 1.5-liter bottles, the dates are between 30th June and 3rd July 2026. Similarly, the still Gut&Günstig water is affected with an MHD between 30th June 2027 and 2nd July 2027.

The contaminated mineral water comes in plastic bottles of sizes 0.5 and 1.5 liters. The recall does not involve meat, processed products, or sausages, and it doesn't apply to mineral water products across all federal states, as Baden-Württemberg and the Sauerland region are excluded.

Health risks are associated with the consumption of the contaminated mineral water. Consumers are advised not to drink the liquid if they have bought the affected products. However, for precise product names and affected expiration dates, it is recommended to consult direct recall notices from Edeka, Marktkauf, Netto, or official public announcements.
