Prostate cancer patients receive assistance through new app developed by Camgenium
In the realm of healthcare, innovation is paramount, and one such innovation is the HealthiumPro system. This cloud-based software solution, developed in partnership between Camgenium and Professor Petre Cristian Ilie, has been making waves for its significant impact on patient care, particularly in hospitals where it has been deployed.
Camgenium's engineering experts worked closely with Dr. Ilie to understand the intricate needs of patients and hospital clinicians. The system is built on Camgenium's flexible Xenplate platform, which uses a modular, no-code software with built-in design tools, allowing for seamless customisation to meet the specific demands of healthcare settings.
HealthiumPro assists in automating surgical notes and correlating surgical data with patient-reported outcomes, streamlining the process and enhancing efficiency. The system also includes a centralised stent database to streamline stent logging and tracking, improving patient safety and management.
The app component of HealthiumPro offers a host of features, including the ability for patients to view upcoming appointment information and for clinicians to remotely monitor patients' blood pressure and temperature. It also provides remote consent forms, pre-surgery information, and access to recommended pre-surgical exercises, fostering a more patient-centric approach.
HealthiumPro is ready and available for nationwide implementation in other healthcare settings, and it has received regulatory approval to host the system on the NHS private network, HSCN. The system has been built in compliance with ISO 13485, the regulatory standard for medical devices, ensuring the highest levels of safety and efficacy.
While specific details about HealthiumPro's innovative software solution for prostate cancer patients are not yet available, Dr. Ilie has stated that the partnership aims to improve patient safety, outcomes, and efficiencies in the hospital. As the rate of prostate cancer is expected to increase by 15% between 2023 and 2040, the need for such innovative solutions is more pressing than ever.
Prostate cancer is a significant health concern in the UK, with 55,000 cases diagnosed annually. Currently, incidence rates show significant disparities by region and ethnicity, with Black men facing a higher lifetime diagnosis risk (1 in 4) compared to white men (1 in 8). Geographically, men in areas like Devon and Cornwall face nearly double the risk of being diagnosed with terminal prostate cancer compared to London and other regions. Survival rates have fallen over the past 15 years, reflecting challenges in early detection and treatment, with treatment initiation within the recommended 31 days below target.
These statistics highlight ongoing unmet needs in timely detection and management of prostate cancer. As we await more information about HealthiumPro's role in addressing these needs, one thing is certain: the potential of this innovative solution to revolutionise prostate cancer care is undeniable. Camgenium looks forward to continuing its partnership and further developing the HealthiumPro system in the future.
