Queen Elizabeth Has Insider Knowledge About This Coach's Unimpressive Performance

Hanging with Joe Wicks, MBE, the Fitness Guru

Chatting with Joe Wicks, aka The Body Coach, was a blast! Known for his high-energy workout routines and dietary advice, Joe's been a household name for years. But it was during the UK's first COVID-19 lockdown that he really took off, leading the incredibly popular "PE With Joe" YouTube sessions for kids.

So, who's Joe Wicks anyway? With a career spanning books, school visits, and his signature The Body Coach, he's been helping people get fit for ages. But it was during the pandemic that he found a new audience in school-age kids everywhere, offering a much-needed alternative to missed physical education.

"PE With Joe" became a lifesaver for millions of parents and their kids across the UK. This unique workout program, which Joe led while dressed as Spider-Man (seriously, what took everyone so long?), reached more than 850,000 viewers on the first livestream and continued for another 18 weeks to support kids stuck in lockdown.

But his focus wasn't just on their physical well-being. In fact, for Joe, mental health was the driving force behind "PE With Joe."

"I just thought that it was going to be positive if I can do something for half an hour that's going to give them something to focus on and a bit of structure to their day and take away stress and frustration they might have felt towards not being in school," Joe explained.

And when Queen Elizabeth II took notice of his efforts, she awarded him an MBE (Member of the British Empire) in recognition of his contributions to fitness and mental health during the pandemic.

While he hasn't yet made it to the ceremony at Windsor Castle (thanks again, COVID), Joe's incredibly proud of his MBE. In fact, he's quick to credit his brother, Nicky, who joined him for every session through his earpiece and helped him read comments from viewers around the world.

Now that we've got the formalities out of the way, what can you do to maintain your mental and physical health during these trying times? Here are Joe Wicks' top 5 tips:

  1. Focus on wellness from a mental health perspective first: Sometimes it's easy to get hung up on appearance, but when times are tough, it's essential to prioritize your mental health. Exercise for the mood-boosting benefits, and remember that the emotional and practical benefits will keep you motivated.
  2. Eat what you enjoy: Sure, a keto diet might work for some people, but Joe believes in balance and flavor. As long as you focus on portion sizes and eat three balanced meals a day, you don't need to follow a specific eating plan.
  3. Make small changes: It's not always possible to dedicate hours to wellness, but that doesn't mean it's impossible to make small changes. Joe recommends a 15-minute meal and a 20-minute workout to get started.
  4. Find the right balance with wearable tech: While it's great to track your progress, Joe doesn't believe in getting too hung up on it. If you have a FitBit or Apple Watch, use it to push yourself and see where you're at...just don't let it consume your life.
  5. Be kind to yourself when you slip up: It's inevitable to have the occasional bad day or slip-up. The key is not beating yourself up about it but using it as motivation to get back on track the next day.

So there you have it: Joe Wicks' top tips for maintaining your mental and physical health during lockdowns or other challenging times. Just remember, the most important thing is to be kind to yourself and find what works best for you. And don't forget to work up a sweat every now and then—you never regret a workout!
