Sound the Alarm! Potential Listeria in French Chicken Nuggets 🇫🇷🍗🚨

Beware if you've recently purchased chicken nuggets from supermarkets in France! The consumer safety website Rappel Conso has issued a warning for several batches of chicken nuggets, allegedly contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

Although there are no official reports of a nationwide recall in France, you should be cautious if you've bought unbranded packages or the Master Coq brand. The affected products include:

  1. A 1kg pack of cornflake chicken nuggets from an unbranded batch (2P25153) with barcode 3230890843723, sold in U cooperative stores from June 4-6, 2025.
  2. The same pack, sold under the Master Coq brand in U stores, with barcode 2618642000005, mainly distributed in the east and south of the country, also on the same dates.
  3. A batch with an EAN starting with 2098053, sold in all Auchan stores across France.

Health authorities advise consumers who own these products to immediately stop consuming them and contact customer service. Two dedicated hotlines have been established: 09 69 36 69 36 for the first two batches and 02 51 44 23 53 for the last one. Refunds will be provided in-store.

Consuming potentially contaminated products may result in fever, headaches, and muscle aches. If you experience these symptoms, reach out to a healthcare professional. Pregnant women, the elderly, and immunocompromised individuals are at highest risk, as Listeriosis may bring about "serious forms with neurological complications and maternal or fetal damage."

Tales from Across the Pond: While news in France remains scarce, recent recalls in the United States involve other types of chicken products contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Companies like BrucePac, Tyson Foods Inc., Price Chopper, Market 32, and Big Y have issued recalls[2][4][5].

Remember, the incubation period for Listeriosis can extend up to eight weeks. Stay vigilant and informed to protect yourself and your loved ones. For the latest updates, consult French food safety authorities or the European Commission’s Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF).

  1. The label on some chicken nuggets, particularly those from the Master Coq brand, unbranded packages, or those sold in all Auchan stores, may indicate a potential risk of Listeria monocytogenes, a type of harmful bacteria.
  2. In the realm of science and health-and-wellness, FDA-related recalls in the United States have recently included other types of chicken products tainted with Listeria monocytogenes, highlighting the importance of being aware of food-and-drink related general news and food safety.
  3. The label on your food and drinks is not just a mere identifier—it can serve as a life-saving piece of information, indicating possible contamination with Listeria, which could lead to complications such as fever, headaches, and muscle aches, especially in pregnant women, the elderly, and immunocompromised individuals.
