Regensburg Offers Certified 'Smoke Free' Course in November 2025

The Regensburg health department is offering a certified 'Smoke Free' compact course in November 2025. Led by Irmgard Pernpeintner, a certified social pedagogue and 'Smoke Free' trainer, the course aims to help participants quit smoking for good.

The course is structured in three phases. Firstly, participants will set a quit date. Then, they will learn coping strategies to deal with cravings and withdrawal symptoms. Finally, they will focus on the positive aspects of a smoke-free life. The course includes a 90-minute introduction session and three weekly sessions of three hours each, supplemented by two phone sessions. A free information and introduction lecture will take place on October 29th, followed by registration for the course.

The participation fee is €180, but statutory health insurances will reimburse up to 80% of the costs. The 'Smoke Free Handbook' is required, costing approximately €26, and further information brochures are provided free of charge. The course is certified by the Institute for Therapy Research and the Federal Institute for Public Health, ensuring a high standard of training. Past participants have shown promising results, with around one third remaining smoke-free even after a year.

The 'Smoke Free' compact course in Regensburg offers a structured, certified program to help smokers quit. With a high success rate and partial reimbursement of costs, it provides a valuable resource for those looking to improve their health and wellbeing.
