In the heart of the Harz District, a fire broke out at a nursing and care home in Quedlinburg. The incident, which occurred in the basement of House 2, has left the entire facility affected.

The fire department, along with other emergency services, swiftly carried out the evacuation of the residents. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the evacuation process. Initial reports suggest that 16 residents were evacuated, with the remaining 33 being assisted by around 45 emergency services.

As of now, the cause of the fire remains unknown. Suspicions point towards a technical defect as the possible culprit, but this has yet to be confirmed. A fire cause investigator is scheduled to be on site at the beginning of the week, aiming to uncover the cause of the fire. Due to the extent of the damage, a return to the home is currently not foreseeable.
