Rising emphasis on curbing obesity among kids and teenagers in Ludwigsburg is gaining traction

In the heart of Ludwigsburg, a significant initiative was established in 2024 – the "Obesity in Children and Adolescents" working group. This group, led by Dr. med. Janina Mickisch, has been making strides in combating childhood obesity through various preventive measures.

The Nutrition Center Middle Neckar has been a steadfast supporter of this working group, providing valuable insights and resources in the field of nutrition. This collaboration has resulted in the setting up of free movement and prevention offers for overweight and obese children and adolescents.

The Nutrition Center Middle Neckar has not only been a partner in the field of nutrition but has also provided a physical space for the group's activities. Workshops, such as the upcoming "Delicious Snacks and Colorful Meals" workshop scheduled for Monday, November 10, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, take place at the Nutrition Center.

The goal of these workshops is to promote enjoyment, balance, and appreciation for regional and seasonal foods. The workshops aim to create family-friendly, tasty, and healthy meals that are then tasted together. For example, participants might create colorful vegetable platters and homemade spreads.

These workshops are designed to be parent-child events, open to children aged 6 and up. The "Colorful and Balanced Family Cooking" workshop, which took place on Monday, September 22, 2025, is a testament to this.

The homepage of the "Obesity in Children and Adolescents" working group can be reached at https://www.our website/de/health-veterinary/health/obesity-and-obesity-in-children-and-adolescents/. Registration for the workshops can be done by phone at 07141 144 2701 or by email at ernaehrung@our website.

A balanced and colorful diet can help prevent nutrition-related diseases. By engaging children in the preparation of these meals, the working group hopes to instil a lifelong appreciation for healthy eating. The "Obesity in Children and Adolescents" working group continues to make a difference in the Ludwigsburg community, one workshop and one family at a time.
