In the city of Biysk, the 5 Miles running movement is growing and evolving, inviting residents to join its mission of promoting a healthy lifestyle and morning runs. This movement, overseen by the city administration, is now offering additional activities such as Nordic walking training sessions and yoga classes.

Schedule

The 5 Miles running movement typically organises runs on weekends, usually on Saturday mornings around 8:00 AM to avoid the midday heat. Some running groups might schedule it on Sunday or specific dates for special events.

Locations

Common starting points for the runs include the Central Park of Culture and Leisure (Park Kultury i Otdykha), downtown Biysk near the embankment area alongside the Biya River, and various sports complexes or local stadiums.

Activities After the Run

Following the run, participants can enjoy cool-down stretches, group discussions, and social gatherings at nearby cafes or parks for refreshments. Occasionally, the group organises workshops on running techniques, nutrition, or injury prevention. Some events include charity drives or community fitness challenges following the run. Participants may also engage in other outdoor activities like walking, cycling, or yoga sessions arranged by local fitness clubs.

Besides the regular 5 km runs, the city administration is organising Nordic walking training sessions as part of the movement's activities. These sessions are held on Thursdays at the "Zarya" Sports Complex, starting at 19:30 from the Field. Participants can join these sessions at their own comfortable pace.

After the Nordic walking training sessions, yoga sessions focusing on hip joints and flexibility will be held (if weather permits, a bike ride will follow). These yoga sessions aim to further enhance the participants' flexibility and overall wellbeing.

The 5 Miles running movement is also encouraging more people to join its Nordic walking training sessions in Biysk. If you're interested in joining, look for local community pages on social media or running clubs in Biysk for the latest timing and meeting points!

Remember, the races and Nordic walking training sessions are free for participants. The races organised for 5 km runs start at 9:00 AM every Saturday. Training sessions for Nordic walking are also available on Tuesdays at the dam, starting at 19:30 from the Anchor.
