Seven beaches situated within the area
Yekaterinburg Residents Urged to Exercise Caution Near Water Ahead of Summer
Authorities in Yekaterinburg, Russia, have urged residents to be cautious near water bodies as the city prepares for the summer season. Despite the region boasting over 118 lakes and ponds, only seven beaches are deemed suitable for swimming.
During a meeting of the Commission for the Prevention and Liquidation of Emergency Situations and Ensuring Fire Safety in Sverdlovsk Oblast, the importance of water safety was emphasized. Deputy Governor Azat Salikhov, following the instructions of Denis Pasler, chaired the meeting, where he stressed the need for collective responsibility in ensuring safety on water.
Salikhov shared that it is not just the responsibility of emergency services like the EMERCOM or Rospotrebnadzor, but a shared responsibility among government bodies, municipalities, educational institutions, and parents. Through systematic and coordinated work, the number of tragic incidents, particularly among children, can be reduced.
The seven safe beaches this season are located at the Verkhne-Syssertskoe and Leninskoe reservoirs, the Verkh-Neyvinsky and Bilimbaevsky ponds, the Serga River, the "Granatovaya Bukhta" sanatorium near Sysert, and the beach of the "Kemping" LLC. All these beaches are equipped with lifeguard stations and have safe bottoms.
In preparation for the summer, state inspectors for small craft conducted nearly 3,000 lessons with children in schools, kindergartens, boarding schools, and camps. These educational events covered over 18,000 minors, and more than 23,000 brochures with water safety rules were distributed.
This summer, lifesaving and safe water behavior training will be held in camps. Lifeguards, police officers, local government representatives, and volunteers will conduct patrols of water bodies, paying special attention to identifying children who are near water without adult supervision.
The quality and epidemiological safety of water in water bodies is monitored by the Sverdlovsk Oblast office of Rospotrebnadzor. It is essential to remember that swimming at beaches with prohibiting signs is not only dangerous but also carries a fine of up to 5,000 rubles.
As water objects of Sverdlovsk Oblast are set to be included in the federal project of ecological rehabilitation, residents are encouraged to adhere to safety rules and guidelines to ensure a pleasant and safe swimming season.
- Science and education play a crucial role in enhancing water safety for the residents of Yekaterinburg, as state inspectors conduct over 3,000 lessons in schools and distribute over 23,000 brochures with water safety rules.
- Beyond fitness-and-exercise and health-and-wellness, it's of utmost importance to prioritize education-and-self-development in order to foster responsible behavior and increase awareness about water safety among children and adults in Yekaterinburg.
