In a bid to enhance the well-being of their staff, Pflege Wessel, a care provider based in Wuppertal, has partnered with Bergische Health Insurance for corporate health services.
Michael Wessel, the owner of Pflege Wessel, feels it's his duty to provide corporate health promotion for his employees, who face significant demands and responsibilities in their care work. This work involves shift work, high physical and mental demands, and a significant social responsibility.
To address the unique challenges of their care staff, Pflege Wessel has found it necessary to tailor coaching and courses to meet their diverse needs. This approach has proven successful, with the feedback from employees regarding the offered self-care courses being overwhelmingly positive.
Psychologist Janine Gerdau, an expert in corporate health management, has been instrumental in offering stress management and self-care courses to the care teams at Pflege Wessel. Over 16 sessions, she helped the teams define stressors, analyze stress reactions, and identify stress amplifiers like limiting beliefs. Key self-care methods emphasized by Gerdau include creating pleasant experiences, fostering social connections, and consciously acknowledging positives. These methods, according to Gerdau, are crucial for balancing demanding phases and preparing for future challenging situations.
The collaboration between Pflege Wessel and Bergische Health Insurance has resulted in identifying various coaching and courses needed within the company. Pflege Wessel, which has a history of offering in-house coaching, looks forward to more specialized offers from Bergische Health Insurance.
Bergische Health Insurance, known for its various health promotion and prevention programs targeted at different professional groups, will partner with the health fair at Pflege Wessel. The fair, taking place on Sunday, September 28, 2025, from 11 am to 4 pm at the Kunsthalle and on the company grounds (Oberdoerren 90 in Barmen), will feature Janine Gerdau providing visitors with tips on relaxation, and admission is free.
Care living communities have different health promotion requirements than those in mobile, home care at Pflege Wessel. To cater to these differences, Bergische Health Insurance offers a wide range of services and understands the unique challenges of the care industry.
In the administration department of Pflege Wessel, a back school was started due to sedentary work. This initiative shows the company's commitment to promoting health and wellness among its employees, ensuring they are well-equipped to handle the demands of their roles.
