Tragic incident in a Munich garden claims a life

In northern Munich, a tragic incident occurred in a garden allotment hut near the Fasanerie lake, resulting in the loss of two lives and injuries to four others.

During a private gathering at a shared garden complex in the Fasaneriesee area, a group of seven individuals were celebrating when a carbon monoxide poisoning incident took place. The source of the gas is suspected to be a generator located in the cellar of the hut.

Two men, aged 41 and 50, were found unconscious and later pronounced dead. It is believed that they spent some time in the cellar where the gas buildup occurred. The remaining members of the group sought help, and one man was rescued by firefighters, while another was brought outside by the participants themselves.

Four other men, ranging in age from 26 to 58, suffered minor injuries. Three of them were hospitalized, while the condition of the fourth man was not specified.

The Criminal Police have launched an investigation into the incident to determine the exact cause. Carbon monoxide, a colorless and odorless gas, can cause death within minutes in high concentrations by preventing oxygen transport in the body. Survivors may suffer long-term health effects, including memory loss, paralysis, or dizziness for months afterward.

It is important to note that even small amounts of carbon monoxide can reduce the blood's oxygen-carrying capacity, leading to unconsciousness and suffocation. Carbon monoxide is produced by the incomplete combustion of organic materials such as wood, coal, and gasoline.

Authorities have stated that there is no ongoing public danger, and the situation is now safe. Our thoughts are with the families and friends of those affected by this incident.
