The Our Safer City consortium, launched by the City of London Crime Prevention Association in November 2023, is taking significant strides in combating violence against women and girls in the City of London.

The consortium, which includes the City of London Police, City of London Corporation, Solace, and EIDA, is set to launch its third survey to understand the experiences of women and girls in the city. The survey, titled the Our Safer City survey, is aimed at gathering valuable insights to help shape policies and initiatives that promote safety and wellbeing.

In addition to the survey, a House of Lords roundtable discussion is also planned, providing a platform for influential figures to discuss and strategise on the issue at hand.

The campaign will focus on raising awareness and providing practical, accessible training. In collaboration with The Skills Network and Solace, Our Safer City will deliver training sessions on consent, workplace harassment, and domestic abuse awareness. These sessions aim to equip individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to recognise and respond to instances of violence and abuse.

The success of previous initiatives, such as Taxi Marshalling and Safe Havens, is a testament to the impact of the Our Safer City consortium. More than 9,300 solo female journeys were supported by Taxi Marshalling, with over half of the passengers being women. To date, Taxi Marshalling at Liverpool Street has facilitated 31,566 journeys with 57,295 passengers.

Our Safer City is also participating in the international "16 Days of Action against Violence against Women and Girls" campaign this autumn. A standout event this summer was the CSSC Fundraising Dinner at 1 Lombard Street, which supported Our Safer City and Cross-sector Safety & Security Communications (CSSC).

The full program for the upcoming training sessions and events will be launched on the Our Safer City website and LinkedIn page. An in-person event called "Our Safer City - Shaping Safe Workplaces" is scheduled for November. The "16 Days of Action" activities will be announced soon on the Our Safer City website and LinkedIn page.

Join the Our Safer City consortium in their mission to create a safer city for all women and girls. Your participation and support can make a difference.
