Veteran Politician Tran Duc Luong Has Departed from Life
Former Vietnamese State President Tran Duc Luong passed away on May 20, 2025, at his private residence. He was 88 years old.
Born on May 5, 1937, in the central province of Quang Ngai, Tran Duc Luong served as the State President between September 1997 and June 2006. During his tenure, he made significant contributions to the Party and the nation's revolutionary cause.
In recognition of his remarkable service, President Luong Cuong bestowed Tran Duc Luong with the 65-year Party membership badge on February 3, 2025.
Tran Duc Luong's passing was due to a period of illness. He received dedicated treatment from the Party, the State, a team of professors, and medical doctors, and his family.
The memorial, funeral, and burial ceremonies for Tran Duc Luong will be announced at a later time. However, the latest information indicates that the funeral service took place starting around May 25, 2025. His coffin arrived at Chu Lai Airport at 7:00 a.m. on that day, marking the commencement of the funeral ceremonies.
