Woman Dies After Wasp Sting While Enjoying Kvas at Dacha
A tragic incident occurred in the Bychovsky district where a woman lost her life after a seemingly innocuous encounter with a wasp while enjoying a drink of kvas at her dacha in late August. The woman, known to have allergies to insect bites, suffered a severe reaction that led to her untimely death.
The woman was drinking kvas when she was stung on the lip by a wasp. A forensic medical examination later confirmed the presence of a puncture wound on her lower lip. Within minutes, she developed an angioneurotic edema, causing her face, neck, and upper respiratory tract to swell and narrow. This resulted in asphyxiation, and she lost consciousness shortly after. Despite taking three tablets of an antihistamine, she did not recover. Tragically, she was not the only one to fall victim to such a reaction in the region. In a separate incident, a man was stung to death by bees in the agrotown of Bogušевиči, Barysaw district, Minsk region.
The woman from the Bychovsky District was laid to rest on September 5, 2023, in the village cemetery of Bychov. Her sudden passing serves as a stark reminder of the potential severity of allergic reactions to insect stings, even in seemingly minor incidents. The community mourns her loss and offers condolences to her family.
